Fanimecon was really great this year. Sadly, it is over.
Got to see a whole ton of great artists this year in the Artist Alley including the awesome creators of Mystic Revolution, Flipside (Slightly NSFW), And Toilet Genie. Got to buy each of their first volumes and got them not only signed but sketched in too*Fanboi squee*
Didn’t spend a whole ton of money this year though, waaaaaaaaay to much fanart in there which is a pet peeve of mine, and the Dealer’s Hall was the same as always which is why I didn’t buy anything in there… since I can get any of that stuff online for cheaper.
Worked Swap Meet again, always fun. I swear it’s getting bigger every year. Good thing too, because I finally found something I’ve been looking for since I started attending back in ’05, Guilty Gear Figurines!!!! I swear, in the 7 years that I’ve been going to cons, I have never seen a shred nor shrapnel of Guilty Gear merchandise, oh happy days!!
Probably the best thing that we got from Fanime though was the market research. Just wandering the Artist’s Alley and seeing who was successful and who wasn’t was great planning material for when we attend as vendors. Looking at how people set up shop, ways to draw the eye to your booth, how to stay organized, how you pitch your product. This time last year, I had just registered the Domain name and started building Ver 1.0 of the website. We weren’t looking at how people were selling because that was a distant thought. We didn’t know if we were going to be successful (which we still don’t know btw), we didn’t know if we would even make it to a point where we could print a book (2 chapters away now), and we didn’t know what we would have to sell at a con (More on that later). Now we do, there is a plan, a time frame, a budget, a work list, and all that from wondering cons like Image Expo and Fanime.
I am really excited about everything that’s coming up soon. I may have to put together a timeline that we can show you guys, since you’re all the second most important part about this. First Comic, Second Fans, Last Sanity.
Hope all of you are rested up, because we have a lot of stuff that we want to get to in the story, and there’s no end in sight. We’re planning something big for the site’s first birthday, more to come on that over the next month. Mark your calendars for July 4th because EfE is turning 1 year old.
