Blackout dayon January 18, 2012 at 5:36 PM
NOTICE 1/19: Our webhost provider is doing maintenance to their core gateway systems today. This may cause the site to be a little slow. Please have patience when browsing as you will still be able to access everything on our site. This should all be completed by 12am PST tonight. I will update once we receive word that this has been completed and everything is normal.
Thank you for your patience.
As you may have noticed, we participated in the SOPA/PIPA blackout day. Not much else to say since you all should already know about these horrible censorship laws media corporations are attempting to jam down our throats. If you don’t, or have not signed a petition yet, please read on.
If not for a free and open internet, creative works such as ours would not be possible. If SOPA or PIPA were to pass, New Line Cinema would be able to, without any input or argument from us, shut us down and deny us advertising revenue because our theme is similar to Lord of the Rings (even though the only thing that similar right now is the fact that these are Elves). This is just an example, I don’t know if they’re that anal. But that’s just one of the many ridiculous things corporations would have the power to do.
If you have not signed one of the many online petitions to fight these Bills, please go do it now. Google feeds into one of the major ones here. If you are outside the US, you can still contribute by going here and clicking the link under the green button.
This or any bill like it must not come to pass. While we don’t condone Piracy and Thief of Intellectual properties, this bill is not that. It gives the government and corporations the means to begin censoring the internet. The internet must remain a safehaven for new ideas, new creative mediums, and Entrepreneurship. FIGHT BACK!
