Heheh, had fun drawing Tanna in this one. This is the first time we get to see Tanna and Elon interact without Myari there to take over the conversation. THIS IS WHAT A NON-WORRIED/STRESSED OUT ELON LOOKS LIKE… kinda strange.

I think Tanna’s reaction might look off because she hasn’t actually reacted yet! With the leaves blowing by behind her, doesn’t it look like she just froze completely with the last expression that happened to cross her face made ice (in this case, it happened to be a wide, friendly smile)? I wouldn’t change it, because I think it’s funnier this way–I’m sure the volcano that is now looming silent and ominous over the uknowing village of Elon will explode to bring fiery destruction soon enough.
Either that, or it may just crumble inwards on itself without Elon ever noticing the impact of his words. Anyway, the fact that Tanna went into statue mode shows that they DID make an impact.
I understand the whole leaves-blowing-by effect, but I don’t get the impact that she’s frozen. For some reason. Maybe it’s a smiling face blocking it a bit. If she were to have reacted then she’d at least wipe off the smile and stand there, smitten.
Just commenting to say how much I’m enjoying you guys (here in this thread and lower down the page) analyzing and discussing that one panel. It’s kinda cool.
Ouch. That was such a burn! Do them elves have some magical burn cream to use? Kinda wondering how Tanna would respond.
Something tells me a bunker might possibly be needed.
If they did have burn cream it would have to be magically because everything is explained with magic.

I enjoy making Tanna’s clothes… even though they can be a little tricky!! I want her attire to still appear a bit Elven but shes’s not the type to wear something impractical or overly feminine. So I’ve got to tomboy-up my normal Elven designs without going overboard. Dancing the line!

I think the last panel worked quite well. The smile still there does seem a Little odd, but I didn’t even notice that until I saw all these comments and went and looked again.
And I second that comment on Tanna’s clothes – so cool!
I left the smile in to take some of the seriousness out. I didn’t want the panel to appear as heav… hopefully more lighthearted. They’re just a couple of friends ribbing on each other.

Oh, Elon… As cute as your fanboying is, you’ve known Tanna for all of your 15 years… Don’t you know what kind of fury you might be unleashing with that harsh statement!? I expect her eyes to be glowing red under those bangs, at this moment (which would make the frozen smile work). It’s obvious those words cut deep, and the wind is only pushing them further in.

I’m a part of the Australian school system, actually. Though from what I’ve seen/heard over the years, there’s not much difference. A few of my teachers/amigos are competent, but not as many as there should be. Woe is the education system, I suppose.
The good teachers always go to the district pet schools or higher paying jobs. My favorite teacher was Junior year English. He left the next year for a higher paying job at a private school
